Increasing Productivity while Working at Home (with Kids)
Working from home
We’re seeing a lot of women work from home now more than we ever did before. And for moms, the WFH set up removes some of the guilt we have for being away from our kids to work. But on the flip side, it can be quite challenging to work at home. Your kids can be quite nosey at what you’re doing, there’s a lot of crazy scenario in the house, and there’s so much going on in the background that it’s difficult to focus on your work/business.
So a lot of moms have been asking me, how do we increase our productivity at home and especially with our kids around?
And the key here is being able to do more things in less time. And I’ll share with you how so you can hit those big goals while still being able to take care of your family and home. Time to effectively manage mom and work life!
One task at a time
You might have heard me mention time blocking. It’s means giving 100% of your focus on that task in the time block. So when you are doing your work, avoid baby sitting your kids as much as you can. And when you are bonding with your kids, avoid doing work. Because it would take you twice as long to get something done when you are multitasking.
But let’s admit it, there are times when you don’t feel like doing a specific task in the time block. And that’s why it’s important to sync your cycle to your time blocking so you could schedule your tasks according to the best time you could do them.
And this is why I recommend cycle blocking. It is marrying time blocking with cycle awareness to get the most out of your time. It is matching your tasks to your peak productivity zones in your calendar. So you don’t have to schedule tasks on a day when you are not sure how your brain or energy is going to function that day.

Sacrificing the time for your family to build your career or business seems counterintuitive. Because next thing you know your kids are grown up and you’d wonder where did the time go. So go ahead and take advantage of your cycles so you don’t have to do that!
