Letting Go of Comparison with Shannon Popkin -89

In almost all areas of our lives, we frequently compare ourselves to others. It’s a poison to our system that we want to get rid of, yet we find it difficult to do so. We compare ourselves to others who we seem are doing ‘better,’ only to feel ‘less’ after. And then we turn to another whom we think are ‘less’ than us to make ourselves feel better. It’s just ugly! (Find out where we can get our pockets of joy.)

The irony is, we just want to feel connected, yet we isolate ourselves further through comparison. But did you know that there is a cure for this?

“Me-free” and humility

Whether it’s the sense of inadequacy or sense of superiority, the solution is humility. We let go of that pride of wanting to be better when we constantly try to humble ourselves.

And the awesome thing is that there’s a shortcut to letting go of comparison: the me-free perspective. When we approach others free of ourselves, free of wanting to elevate ourselves, we develop this freedom from our desire of making it all about us. We will start to acknowledge and appreciate each other’s differences, especially our own uniqueness. (Check out the road to self-love.)

Join Shannon and I in this episode for helpful tips on how we can achieve that “me-free” perspective and totally let go of comparison!

“Comparison robs us of all the ways we can inspire each other.” -Shannon Popkin

Remember that Jesus said, “the greatest, is the servant. And whoever humbles himself is exalted.” Thus, we get closer to God when we start pouring instead of measuring. So stop comparing and start inspiring!
